Big Shot & 12 x 12 Paper Organization

Today I'm sharing some Organization tips.   For Christmas Dave bought me a Craftsman Tool chest for my Big Shot & Dies.

Big Shot Station

I got this idea from the lady that does my hair.  She has all her stuff in a chest like this and she can roll it around.  I thought it would be great for my Big Shot because I keep moving it from my paper craft area to my sewing area and now I can just roll the whole station around.

Although Dave bought it for me for Christmas…it was on backorder and we just got it yesterday.  And, it didn't take me long to fill the drawers :) I love it…but I sure wish it was white or cream colored!! Oh well, not everything can be pretty in here. I'll be looking at buying a few Decor Elements to not only label it but to also make it pretty!!

Here's the picture of the Regular Dies.

Here's the Alphabets, Embossing folders, Texturz Plates & Sizzlits.

We found the Magnetic Board at Ikea & it works great holding the Magnetic Dies (we need to hang it on the wall).

The next organization tip is my 12 x 12 Designer Paper.  This idea came from Jill, one of my downline girls.  I have always looked for a way to organize my 12 x 12 scraps & this is what she came up with.   For now I have these on top of my counter, but we may add some cabinets & I'll need to move it.  For now …it works great!

12 x 12 paper storage

Each bin holds two Designer Papers. I label it on the left & the right with my PTouch.   The scraps of those same two Designer Papers goes into one of the Craft Keepers.  I also store my Window sheets & Rub-ons in these bins.

Thanks for all the name suggestions for my Savanna Bag!! I agreed with many of you that naming it after my niece was the way to go. I've loaded the videos on You Tube and I'm working on loading them on my Chic n Scratch Live! website.  I'll also have the written instructions available for a small fee (speaking of the fee, I charge a small fee because I have a friend that helps me and I pay her to do most of the work).

I'll announce the winner to my Blog Candy on Tuesday :)

Stamp Club is tomorrow & I need to finish getting ready for that….and then I'm spending the rest of the day with the family.

Happy Valentines Day!!

  1. what a great way to store those heavy dies! I might have to show it to my hubby, but then he might just get one for his garage!

  2. I love the tool chest idea for the Big Shot! It looks like everything fits nicely.

  3. Erica

Just buy spray paint you love and give it a touch up, Thats what I do.

What a great idea for storing your Big shot and dies! I wish I had room in my craft area for one as well! Thanks for sharing!

  5. Oh, I love it when you share your organizing projects and pictures. I really like the huge magnetic board. Push pin boards are nice, but this is so much more usable i.e baskets, bins, file folder holders, and display projects. Again, thank you for all you do and share with the public.

Hi Angie, I am trying to mail you but your mailbox is full.
Could you please let me know how I can comment on the Savannah bag? My sister has come up with some great names!

    greetings

Hi Angie, love your pics. How’s your craft room coming along? Have to show us some more pics of it. As to your comment on the color… just buy “Rustoleum” (I think that’s what it’s called) it’s a spray paint for metal. I am sure they have it in white or cream. Enjoy!

Spray paint the tool chest! It will take a few coats to cover up the black with a light color, but it certainly will be more attractive! Or how about contact paper? Modge Podge? You can cover it up and make it beautiful!

  9. Hi Angie! I’m a new follower of your blog, and a new demo since August 2009. Your blog, videos, and projects have been so helpful! Where did you get your storage shelves for the 12×12 paper? Those are perfect!

    Have a great day!

    Angie,
I have been trying to find those white shelves forever and a day but can’t find them anymore! I know Michael’s used to have them close to where I live but don’t anymore! Can you tell us where you got yours PLEASE!!! Thanks in advance! Love your blog!!

The Craftsman Tool Chest is a perfect storage solution for the Big Shot! Hmmm… now I just need to figure out where to put my file cabinet so I can get a tool chest like this… TFS!

  14. What a great idea for your die cutting tools! I use those clear envelopes for my DSP paper and instead of using my label maker, I bought Eraseable labels from Container store so that I just write in the new name once I use up a paper. I also use the envelopes to keep my workshop ideas/projects in.

Hi Angie, I love the Craftsman Storage Bin, what a great idea! Will have to show that to my DH. I really like your way of storing paper and scrap paper, but where did you purchase those bins with the shelves in them? I would really like to get some of those. Keep on sharing your organizational projects with us, we can never have enough. Thanks for the update.

Angie, it’d probably be a little costly (unless you have a friend who does body work), but you may consider having it professionally painted by an automotive specialist. The spray paint would chip off eventually and well, you strike me as wanting gloss and polish! 😉 I’m thinking Cadillac White Diamond would be a nice finish—good luck!

Angie, I recently found out that the dies should not be stacked on top of each other. Over time the break down. They should be stacked upright side to side.

  19. Debbie Flattum

How clever!! I told my husband I need a roll away tool box and told him what you did. Great idea!

  20. Sharon Leasure

    Angie,

I have been thinking about doing that my self. The lady that does my hair has the same thing it pretty wild…
What is that item you have on top of the chest…That your BigShot is on.

Hi Angie — I agree with the previous comments, and it was exactly what popped into my head when I saw the color and your comment regarding same. So easy to pick a spray paint color you like/prefer and just pull those drawers outside and change the color in a snap :-) I might have to think about this fabulous organizational idea at some point! Thanks for sharing.
